Network Marketing Tips | You’re (Probably) Not Being Pushy

We’ve found most people who feel like they’re being pushy are really dealing with a mindset issue, not a skill set issue. But just case you’re still skeptical, let us ask you a couple of questions (just to make sure):

Do you commonly reach back out to people every few days, even after they’ve adamantly told you, “Don’t ever contact me about this again?”

Do you follow up with the prospects 3-5 times a day (multiple texts, emails, phone calls, etc) until you get a response?

Do you use high-pressure sales tactics (fear of loss, sensational promises you can’t deliver on, etc) to “close” your prospect?

Do you show up unannounced at your prospects’ home or place of business when they don’t respond to your other forms of communication?

If you answered “no” to these questions then we hate to break it to you…

You’re NOT being pushy! It’s all in your head! An imaginary story you’ve made up that keeps you in fear and out of action.

And the best part is, we can fix that!

Network Marketing Tips | Overcoming Your Fear of Being Pushy

In order to overcome your fear of being pushy you must recognize that by Following Up With Someone Who’s Expressed Interest in Your Products or Business, You’re Being Professional, Not Pushy

Don’t believe us? Let me give you an example:

Have you ever called a repairman… a service provider… or any kind of business professional expressing interest in their services?

And have any of those professionals ever failed to call, come by or follow through on a promise they made to you?

We know it’s happened to us… and we can tell you the first thing we do when that happens: we call someone else!

Ray Higdon says, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”

We agree with that statement, and when someone tells us they will follow up and then fails to do so, we regard them as unprofessional and call into question the quality of their services.

The bottom line? We want to do business with people who follow up when they say they’re going to.

And when they follow up unexpectedly? When they give us a call to check and see if I have any questions, or to see if there’s anything else they can help me with? Well, that’s just a bonus!

In order to continue working to overcome your fear of being pushy, commit to daily personal and professional development: building your own belief in yourself, your company and the network marketing industry, and honing your skills so you can move forward confident in your ability to build your business like a professional!

Network Marketing Tips | The Simple Solution

We’ve already established that, in the business world, doing what you said you are going to do is professional, not pushy.

This provides a simple solution for how to be professional vs pushy: work from appointment to appointment

In other words, never end one conversation without setting up an appointment for the next conversation.

We share the word-for-word script we use in every step of the follow up process in our Professional Follow Up Script that Converts, but let us explain what we mean:

It’s important to remember the purpose of follow up is to lead your prospect through the decision making process until they reach the best decision for them. When we start looking at follow up in this way, as opposed to using follow up to “get” the prospect to buy or join, it changes our entire focus.

Your job is simply to lead them through the decision-making process, which usually takes 5-12 exposures to your products or business.

Your decision making process will look different depending on what tools you have available in your company, but the premise is the same: every 24-48 hours (when possible) introduce your prospect to the next step in the process, and continue to do so until they arrive at a decision.

Network Marketing Tips | Telling Your Prospect What To Do Is Not Pushy

 It’s important to remember: you are the expert. Not your prospect!

When people on clear on what to do, they usually do nothing. For this reason it’s your job to become very clear on what the next step is, and let your prospect know.

Remember, even a ‘no’ is really a ‘not right now’… so unless someone explicitly says, “Never, ever contact me about this ever again,” we always ask if we can follow up again at a later time.

At worst, if the timing really is not right for them, the next step may be for them to simply get them on our email list so they can stay in touch with updates, and we will follow up with them again in 30-60 days.

When we tell our prospects what the next step is, they are grateful! It eliminates confusion and makes it clear to them what to expect.
